The Taber & District Chamber of Commerce exists to celebrate and enhance quality of life in the Taber area of Southern Alberta.

The Chamber supports its members with efforts to increase local business and by promoting community events, including Cornfest, Annual Awards (Citizen of the Year, Small Business, Spirit of Taber, Outstanding Customer Service), Annual Parade, the Midnight Madness local shopping initiative as well as the Award Winning Taber Pheasant Festival.

Residents of Taber and area thrive in a diversified regional economy and benefit from a host of social, educational, cultural and recreational community activities.

Board of Directors


   Bruce Warkentin-
Bruce is a Chartered Accountant with MNP LLP's Taber office and joined the Chamber Board in 2009.  Bruce lives in Taber with his wife and three children.  He grew up in Vauxhall and Graduated from the University of Lethbridge.  He currently serves on the boards of Taber & District Foodgrains Bank and Chinook Community Futures as well as being a coach for the Taber & District Soccer Association.

Jared Bell -

Jared is a chartered professional accountant with Avail CPA in Taber.  He joined the Chamber board in 2017.  he is a third generation Taberite and proud of this fact.  He grew up spending time on his grandparents farm east of town and hopes to one day return to rural living.  he graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2010 and obtained his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 2012.  He also serves as director of the APIA (Alberta Potato Industry Association) and he enjoys giving back in these capacities.



 Picture6  Matthew Williams - Past President
Matthew works at Sun Life Financial, managing a growing practice with his father, Keith.  He graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of commerce, Finance Major at the university of Alberta. He played football with the U of A Golden Bears.  Matt was born and raised in Taber and now coaches Rebels High School Football.  He and his wife Laura have four children.  he received honors for finishing third out of 260 candidates across the country who wrote the Financial Planning Examination Level II.

Elisha Graham

Elisha is a born and raised Taber girl, she enjoys spending time with her 10 year old girl who is an active member of Dance Images here in Taber.  Being a part of the community is very important to her, which started at the young age of 18 when she started her sales career at the Taber Times.  Since then she has gone to the Lethbridge college and received her Business Marketing and Business Management diplomas.  Elisha feels that her media background, love for her community and drive for success will be a great asset to the Chamber Board.


 Picture1  Joanne Sorensen  - Vice President -
Joanne is the Office Manager and HSE Coordinator in family run business of At-Tech Coating.  Joanne lies in Taber with her husband Martin Sorensen and have two daughters attending post secondary school in Lethbridge.  Joanne grew up in Taber and graduated for MacEwan University in Business Management.  Joanne's focus has been raising her two daughters while continuing to be active in the community.  Joanne joined the Chamber to increase the Industrial Sector voice on the Chamber and would like to continue to promote the businesses who support the local economy.


Malinda Harris

Malinda has lived in Taber for the past 33 years with her husband Merrill.  They farm west of Taber and have 5 children and 3 grand children.  Malinda bought the former Pats Flowers in 2013 and re-branded as Garden Gate Floral.  She believes Taber can remain a vibrant community and welcomes new economic development and encourages the residents of Taber to show their support for the community by supporting local businesses.

Mark is a full time licensed Realtor with Century 21 Foothills.  He was born and raised in Taber.  He has five children and thirteen grandchildren who live in various parts of the world.  Mark has been in charge of entertainment for Cornfest the last four years and looks forward to doing it again in the coming year.  He enjoyed working on the Spray Park Committee in 2013 and the Cornfest Stage Committee in 2016.  He recently got elected to sit on the Town of Taber Council.

Tom was born and raised in Taber and currently farms with his wife and family south east of Taber.  He has served on the Chamber Board for the past 14 years on a variety of committees.  He sits on different agricultural boards and commissions.  Tom is very active in his church and in the community.
 Picture3  Tom Paterson
Tom was raised in Taber and has been involved in the business of cattle, farming and oilfield industries. He has been a Chamber Board member since October 2006 and has served on several committees. Tom is also the President of the Taber Curling Club. He and his wife Janine have three daughters. He is pleased to say he's a grandpa to two!


Tyrel McLelland -

Tyrel is currently a representative for Investors Group Financial.  he and his wife Amber moved to Taber in 2010 from High River and are busy raising two boys.  Tyrel grew up studying martial arts and along with his wife recently bought a martial arts club downtown Taber.  Tyrel joined the Chamber of Commerce to meet other business people and help contribute to his new hometown.

Harry owns and operates Interior Design Trends & the Taber Bowling Centre as well as numerous rental properties. He currently chairs the Council of the Christian Reformed Church in Taber.  He feels after being a business owner for 30 years it was time to be a Director on the Chamber as he strives to do his utmost for the furtherance of our community.  He is married to Arlene and they have 3 children and 6 beautiful grandchildren.

Rick Popadynetz
- President
Rick was born in Taber at the old hospital in 1974 and raised here.  He's worked on projects like the New Taber clinic and Signature Point.  he is a Journeyman carpenter and also working on an electrical apprenticeship.  He's currently working with the construction crew building onto St. Pat's School. 

Matthew Beal

Matthew is a Relationship Manager with ATB Financial.  Matthew and his wife Brin have been residents of Taber since 2012.  Matthew and Brin have two wonderful daughters both of which were born in Taber.  Matthew is very passionate about serving his community, an attribute that he has always embraced over his career with ATB.  Matthew loves to participate in the local events that make Taber such a great place to call home.


Merrill Harris
Merrill represents the MD on the Chamber Board.  Merrill was born and raised in Taber.  He attended Brigham Young University and earned a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics.  While there he met his wife Malinda.  They were married in 1984 and have called Taber home ever since.  They are the parents of five children, one left at home.  They believe Taber is a good place to call home, raise a family and do business.  They have been actively farming for 32 years, growing sugar beets, corn, peas, grain and 100 cows.  Malinda purchased the former Pats Flowers last year, renaming her business Garden Gate Floral.  He is activein our community through work with the Sugar Beet Growers organization, Canadian Federation of Agriculture, 4H and other community organizations. 
 Picture4  Darlene McCoy
Darlene is a real estate assistant at North & Company and oversees the Taber office.  Darlene and her husband Bob have been residents of Taber since 1994.  Darlene and Bob are the parents of 2 grown children.  Darlene has previously been a Food Bank Representative for her church.  Darlene is new to the Board and is looking forward to becoming involved in Chamber activities.

Anton graduated from the university of Lethbridge in 2009 with a B.S.C in Chemistry.  Anton changed careers in January 2012 starting a welding apprenticeship.  after completing the apprenticeship in March of 2015 he started his own company, Torrent Steelworks.
